The Staff of SJC Hassan, attended the faculty development program on 19th July 2019, wherein they were briefed about the NEP draft 2019 with regard to higher education. Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ was the resource person for the day.

On the 20th July 2019 orientation programme was conducted for the staff of St Joseph's Institute, Hassan. Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, The Rector of St Aloysious College, Mangalore was responsible to conduct the orientation program. The day began with a prayer recited by Rev Fr Roshan David Periera, The Director. Lamp was then lit by the dignitaries. The dignitaries were Rev Fr Dionysius Vas, Rector of St Aloysious Mangalore, Rev Fr Joseph Dsouza, Treasurer and Secretary, Hassan Jesuit Educational Society, Rev Fr Roshan David Periera, Director, Mr Dinesh M Gaoankar, Principal.

In order to break the ice the entire group were divided into smaller groups according to the birthday month after which they were asked to share their names, hobbies, one thing that they like about the institute and what they don't like about the institute. Then for the second time we were asked to get into groups according to our birthday dates, after which we had to share about our family and who is our favourite teacher and how has she or he create an impact on our life. And now for the third time groups were divided on basis of odd and even numbers of birthday dates. In this group the topic of discussion was our plan for the next ten years both in terms of personal and institution.

After the icebreaker session, Rev Fr Dionysius Vas spoke about the Universal Apostolic Preferences which are:

1. Show the way to God.
2. Walk with the poor/outcast/marginalised sections of the society.
3. Accompany young people to create hope filled future.
4. Collaborate in the care of common home.

The day came to an end with a fellowship meal.
