Around 90 students of final year B.Com and BBA of our college had an opportunity to listen to a talk on career opportunities in the aviation industry on the 13th Feb 2020 in the auditorium of SJC Hassan. This session was hosted by Bradford Aviation Academy, specialized team which aims in elevating the overall quality and efficiency of airports through the development of comprehensive training solutions. BAA organizes customized development programs aimed at improving the overall competency and efficiency of employees in the aviation industry.

BAA has an integrated perspective on development which is completely unique and different from other development centres. It implements a unified "Development Program" approach rather than focusing only on trainings, which are attended by students from all parts of the Country. It conducts separate individual assessments for operation and takes note of the varied factors involved before starting the training program. It aims to segment students on the basis of their decision-making skills and levels of authority, and nurtures them as team players and leaders.

The knowledge and skills imparted in the Academy's courses are based on lessons learnt from experiences and best practices followed across the world. Instructors at the Academy include people who have first-hand experience in airport /airline operations. The general batch sizes are small so that participants get a chance to interact closely with highly skilled senior practitioners. The aviation courses imparted at the Academy attract participants from a varied range of backgrounds. The students get a chance to learn and improve themselves through case studies, simulations, and small group exercises.

The aviation sector is one of the most attractive and best-paid sectors in the world. Indian civil aviation industry is the third largest domestic civil aviation market in the world. In the last 3 years, it was observed that the Indian civil aviation industry has emerged as one of the fastest growing sectors in the world. There was a huge growth in the aviation sector due to various factors like Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in domestic airlines, modern airports, advanced information technology (IT), low-cost carriers (LCCs). Working in the Aviation industry is one of the toughest jobs in the world. It needs the utmost passion and dedication towards the job and its job role. Although the employment scenario has been tight in the last decade, thanks to the waves of change sweeping the 'civil aviation industry and the entry of several new private and international airlines, more aspirants may be able to realize this dream in the near future.

Aviation sector has opened avenues for Pilots, Co-Pilots, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Cabin Crew, Technicians and Ground Duty Service Officers. In 2003-04, India had only three domestic airlines with 123 commercial jets. But today, the scenario has changed. If a person has a scientific bent of mind, he can opt for a career as a Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, etc. and if a person is good at communication and interpersonal skills, she/he can consider a career as an Air Hostess or a Flight Steward.
