All Josephties are filled with enthusiasm and excitement as the week of celebration unfolds, the reason being the feast of our founder St Ignatius of Loyola. Ignatius of Loyola was born on 23rd October 1491. He is a founder of a religious order called Society of Jesus, who are also known as Jesuits. His feast is celebrated on the 31st of July. As a young man Ignatius had a great zeal for fame and military exercises for which he joined the army at the age of 17. In the battle of Pamplona which took place in the year 1521, Ignatius was gravely injured as the cannon ball hit him on his right leg. During his recovery time, Ignatius underwent a spiritual change which led him to take a call to religious life. Once he recovered he dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the poor.

Even though the feast of Ignatius is celebrated on the 31st July, We Josephites begin the celebrations a week prior. The coordinators of AICUF Ms Jenisia Fathima Lasrado and Mr Rovin Martis, along with the AICUF members took charge of making the Ignatius Week a memorable one.
