Street Play

With the New Year’s upon us, global citizens are beginning to think about their goals and what they want to accomplish in 2022. Many people focus on their finances, while others may be thinking about their health and relationships. Yet there is still one relationship that many people have forgotten: our relationship with Earth.

Now more than ever, our planet needs us to step up and take action towards cleaning up many of the messes we have made through irresponsibility. Whether it be from oil spills, air pollution, plastics, or toxic chemicals leaking into our water, there is still a lot that must be done to bring our ecosystem back into balance.

With these thoughts in mind the members of Theatre Club of St. Joseph’s College Hassan performed a street play on “Environmental Issues” on 3 rd of December 2021 in the college grounds. In this play they highlighted the need to conserve our environment and all its resources. They requested the audience to think about the harmful effects of human activities on the survival of other species. They also gave awareness about increased plastic usage, deforestation, pollution etc. The play was performed in the able guidance of Ms Benita Olivera and Mr Rangegowda, Theatre Club coordinators.

Dr Daniel Fernandes SJ, Principal spoke about the importance of theatre to impart values and awareness. He also congratulated the coordinators and members of theatre club for their efforts.

Mr Dinesh M Gaonker, vice principal spoke about the relevance of the topic environment in today’s world and thanked the theatre club for presenting these issues and bringing awareness.
