"Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and
steady dedication of a lifetime." Says Adlai Stevenson.
With this saying in mind St. Joseph's College Hassan celebrated the birth
anniversary of two eminent personalities of India's freedom movement i.e,
Balagangadhar Tilak and Chandrashekar Azad on 23rd of July 2021.
Program was conducted in the college auditorium at 3 p.m. The college
principal, Dr Daniel Fernandes SJ presided over the program. Mr Dinesh M
Gaonker, the vice- principal, Rev. Fr Balaraju SJ, the finance officer and all
the staff members were present for the program.
Program was started by invoking Almighty's blessings through a hymn
which was beautifully sung by Ms Jenisia Lasrado from the department of
management, which was followed by a welcome address by her. Mr Anil M
S from the department of English spoke about Balagangadhar Tilak and
Chandrashekar Azad and emphasized on the growing need to inculcate
their leadership qualities and selflessness in our students.
Mr Rovin Martis from the department of commerce gave an introduction
about national broadcasting day and highlighted the importance of media
in our country. He also wished all the best to the Indian athletes who are
participating in the Tokyo olympics. He appreciated the tremendous hard
work our athletes put up in preparation for olympics.
This was followed by presidential remarks by Dr Daniel Fernandes SJ,
Principal of SJC Hassan. He highlighted the many importance of the day.
He remembered many of our national leaders and their many sacrifices for
the freedom of this country. He spoke about the importance of media in our
day to day life and why it is essential to use them to do something good
rather than causing unrest among the masses.
It was followed by a vote of thanks by Ms Joyce Mascarenhas who also
compared the program beautifully.
