St. Joseph’s College, Hassan, through its Centre for Social Action (CSA) Club, organized a
training and outreach program to support labour welfare initiatives in the district.
Ms. Kavya from the Department of Labour, Hassan, conducted an intensive training session
for 61 CSA students. The session provided essential insights into labour registration, scheme
eligibility, benefits of welfare programs, smart card issuance, and effective field engagement
techniques.
Following the training, 28 student volunteers participated in fieldwork on April 28–29, 2025,
reaching out to workers in various sectors. They actively raised awareness, guided
registrations, and collected data from 230 labourers, assisting them in availing both
organized and unorganized sector benefits.
This student-led initiative exemplifies St. Joseph’s commitment to social responsibility,
experiential learning, and community empowerment.
The event took place on April 21, 2025
